The rising L.A. songwriter, Paloma Ford, has now returned with another single, “Summer In California.” With all that California rap influence, it only made sense to feature a couple of emcees from the region, and much like the beat, multiple generations are represented, as both Snoop Dogg and Iamsu! contribute verses. Martin Shore’s documentary Take Me to the River hits theaters on September 12. The film examines the influence of Memphis culture on the America’s music scene, focusing on the struggles of racism and segregation that have plagued the south. The documentary is narrated by Terrence Howard, and features appearances from Mavis Staples, Otis Clay, Yo Gotti, William Bell, and Snoop Dogg himself. The lead track is now being premiered from the movie’s companion album, Take Me to the River: Music from the Motion Picture. The lead track is titled, “I Forgot to Be Your Lover” by William Bell with the STAX Music Academy Students featuring Snoop Dogg. The track is a modern interpretation of the soul classic. (more…)

The two share great stories of their pasts, Jimmy talked about working at KROQ and how he first met Snoop. Born in ’85, it was Death Row that inspired Nip’s music. The Chronic impacted him and his community, to the point were Nip and a close friend would pretend to be Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. The Los Angeles-native has come a long way and it was his last mixtape, Crenshaw, that had all eyes on him.
