Video: Fabolous Talks ‘Soul Tape 3′ & Kendrick Lamar Response on “The Get Back”

Monday, December 30th, 2013

Fabolous dropped the Soul Tape 3 mixtape on Christmas, as a gift of free music to young adults who may not have gotten many presents. The Soul Tape installments have become fan favorites, with Fab taking some of the soulful beats out and killing them lyrically. Fab talks to Fuse about the thought process between mixtape cover selections, and music content. He explains how he gravitates towards the different “feel” of music. Although Soul Tape 3 kept its soulful beats, he changed this one up from the last two by choosing to give it more of a street sound, unlike the first two. This interview by Fuse is pretty dope and gives a lot of insight into the hit tracks on the tape.

The mixtape created a huge hype. A lot of the buzz stemmed from “The Get Back,” the song which responds to Kendrick Lamar‘s “Control” verse. What did Fab have to say? Hit the jump!

Video: Fabolous ‘Soul Tape 3′ Trailer

Friday, December 20th, 2013

With only five days to go, Fabolous drops the trailer for his Soul Tape 3 mixtape. The clip begins with composer John Williams‘ “Star Of Bethlehem” (remember when that song came on in the movie Home Alone, just before Macaulay Culkin‘s big showdown?) playing in the background, while snow falls onto the streets of Brooklyn, indicating the trouble is about to start. Then, a new track produced by AraabMuzik comes on and we get even more shots of New York.

The mixtape will drop on Christmas Day, 12/25/13 at 12:25 PM. Can’t wait!

The Brooklyn rapper uses some of his most popular Soul Tape 2 lines in a brand new combination, proving that even with recycled bars, his word play is impeccable. The black and white visuals show Fab taking a walk down a long, lonely rode as he reflects on how everything is still the same. Same Fab, same M-O. He’s good at building anticipation. Soul Tape 3 drops Christmas Day, 12:25 PM!
