Born and raised in Carson, CA, meet this week’s #TELLAFRIEND Artist of the Week, Ab-Soul. Signed to Top Dawg Entertainment with Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock, Soul is definitely the most underrated of the crew. Growing up in a family-owned record shop, he had no choice but to come across rap and many other different music cultures.

XXL Magazine reveals their annual Freshman Class list with up-and-coming artists. You won’t be surprised with some of the artists on this years list, like Trinidad Jame$, Kirko Bangz, Angel Haze, ScHoolboy Q and Ab-Soul. This list always brings in a lot of controversy because their is only 10 spots for these artists. Most of the artists that make it on here have very successful years, just look at some of the artists on last year’s freshman class: Future, Machine Gun Kelly and French Montana. TDE is on a roll right now, as if ScHoolboy Q‘s track, “Yay Yay” wasn’t enough, these guys look to compete against one another.
