Nike Air Yeezy II Sneak Peek

Friday, March 30th, 2012

The homies over at Complex have unveiled some exclusive photos and sketches of the forthcoming Nike Air Yeezy II, scheduled for release in June. A bit more on Kanye’s inspiration:

The design process started during the recording of Kanye’s Grammy-winning album My Beatiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The Nike Air Yeezy II features several upgrades and design changes. Some of the essential components remain the same — the vintage Tinker Hatfield-designed midsole and outsole, Velcro strap, and glow-in-the-dark sole are still there — otherwise this is a whole new beast.

Recap: Nike’s ‘Back For The Future’ Event

Friday, September 9th, 2011

Last night I was one of the 600 lucky people to attend the Nike Mag event held at the Montalban Theater in Hollywood, CA. I’ve been to the Montalban Theater many times, but nothing would have prepared me for what was waiting for me inside.

In the front of the theater was a DeLorean with both doors open, showcasing all the lights, buttons and yes, the famous time machine. Through the Montalban doors were LED lights hanging from the ceiling, a 20 foot glass wall of Nike Mags and original props from the Back to the Future trilogy were lighting up this energy center.

Pictures (like the one above) were being taken in front of a green screen. While you waited for the pic of yourself wearing the Nike Mags and riding the hoverboard, you could walk over to the 80′s bar full of wine and L.A.’s top tastemakers. Ran into many friends last night… Maestro of Maestro Knows (who made an amazing video about the Nike Mag event), celebrity jewelry designer Melody Ehsani, and rapper Tinie Tempah (we’ll get back to him later).  (more…)

Introducing: Nike Mags (Yes, the shoes from ‘Back to the Future’)

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

Great Scott! I’m super excited to attend a private Nike event tonight, in which they will be announcing the official release of the Nike Mag. Yes, Nike is finally selling Marty McFly’s futuristic high-tops from “Back to the Future II,” 4 years before they’re supposed to exist.

Nike will be releasing 1,500 pairs of the Nike Air Mag, the shoes that Marty rocked in the movie that took place in the year 2015. Nike announced that all of the pairs will be auctioned on eBay, with all of the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which funds research on Parkinson’s Disease. (more…)

#whatimsportin: Illesteva Saloniki Sunglasses

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Yesterday I stepped into my favorite vintage sunglasses store in L.A. (I would tell you the name of it, but then I would have to kill you.) There, I spotted these hand made Illesteva Saloniki wood grain sunglasses made in Italy… yes, wood! Sorry, had to repeat it in case you missed it the first time.

In my 7 years of sunglasses collecting, I’ve never seen such a thing! Ridiculously light weight and as you can see, fresh to def too. They remind me of the Super sunglasses a little bit. Even though they’re not vintage, they are still a great piece to have. The Saloniki is available at Open Ceremony.

Even if you know me just a little, you  know how big of a sunglass fanatic I am. For me, sunglasses are the ultimate accessory.

The sunglasses you see above were designed by Raf Simons for Linda Farrow. The Geometric Sunglass model is based on a synthetic wood-like material and are available at oki-ni.

Nike x Kobe Bryant showcase the LA City Series pack Kobe IV at Pre All-Star Event

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

Men all over Southern California are wetting their panties waiting for the new Kobe IV which come in a special LA City Series pack. The color tone of the shoes have been made to remind you of sunny Los Angeles. The first pair of shoes, which you can see after the jump, has the color orange to represent the Orange County sunset and the blue hues represent the LA Dodgers and East L.A. The second pair of shoes represent Hollywood’s new fad, 3-D.

In addition to the showcase, Nike held an interview with LA’s own Kobe Bryant and director Robert Rodriguez, who is currently directing “The Black Mamba.” The Nike short film, “The Black Mamba” includes cameos from Kanye West, Bruce Willis and Danny Trejo.

NBA All-Star weekend happens in just a few weeks. Get ready for a crazy ride, LA!

#whatimsportin: Good Wood Bracelets

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

Lately, I’ve been diggin’ Good Wood bracelets. I first got into these in Haiti two weeks ago, saw a lot of young Haitian peeps sportin’ them and thought to myself, “I need a wood beaded bracelet… and a big booty Haitian girl.” (Don’t forget, I’m thinking this in my head.) So when I came back to L.A., first thing I did was look for them… and the bracelets. *Ba-dum-ch!*

Anyway, to make a long story, longer… after shopping around I picked up a few Good Wood bracelets, which have become my new favorite accessory. Peep some more here: goodwoodnyc.com

Have a good weekend fam!
