Azealia Banks Boycotts Dolce & Gabbana

Fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana are being boycotted by none other than female rapper Azealia Banks. The company’s summer 2013 line features clothing with images of black women in plantation era getups carrying fruits and vegetables on their heads. The rapstress vented her anger at the brand saying, “Whoever designed that racist a$$ Dolce and Gabanna collection needs a swift kick in the mouth and a big d— up the a$$. I really hate when people do corny, racist things then try to justify it as ‘art.’ It’s all just really unnecessary. the clothes in the collection were fine without all the ‘black mammie’ imagery.”

Dolce & Gabbana claim the clothing is representative of their Sicilian roots, but that isn’t going to stop Azealia from refusing to buy or support any of their new products. Take a look at more of the collection below.
